Buying fashion online: a sizing checklist for South African shoppers

Use measurements and garment details rather than assuming a size label means the same thing everywhere.

Measure, then compare

Size labels vary between brands and garments. Measure yourself with a flexible tape and compare those measurements with the chart for the exact listing. Keep the tape comfortably level and record the units so you do not confuse centimetres and inches.

Look at the garment, not only the model

Read the fabric, fit description and care instructions. A fitted jacket and a relaxed shirt can have the same size label but different measurements. Product photographs can help with colour and shape, but lighting and screens may change how a colour appears.

Footwear needs its own check

Use the shoe brand’s size guide and note whether the listing uses UK, EU or another size system. If a foot-length measurement is provided, compare it carefully. Do not convert shoe sizes using a clothing chart.

Check return conditions before choosing

Read Planet24’s Returns & Refunds Policy before ordering, especially for items with hygiene-related restrictions. Keep labels and packaging while checking fit. Compare current stock and exact sizes in the catalogue; a broad fashion category is not confirmation that a specific size is available.
